Permagarden
Permaculture is based on natural cycles and ecological relationships. The Nantesbuch Permagarden demonstrates how soil, plants, animals and human beings can come into sustainable interplay.
On an area of approximately one hectare, the garden combines agricultural land with near-natural structures. Fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and nuts are cultivated here. Close attention is paid to biodiversity, humus formation and habitats for insects, birds and other beneficial animals.
From June to October, the garden supplies our kitchen and the Foundation’s internal events with fresh-picked vegetables. Its strength lies less in large yields than in variety: thanks to mixed cultivation, varied planting and specifically created retreats, the Permagarden has developed into a biodiversity hotspot on the Foundation grounds.
